I purchased it to gift to an experienced gardener who appreciates unusual blooms and I think it will be very well received. I can't wait to see it reach maturity and bloom those gorgeous violet-blue flowers.

The exotic, interesting plant arrived crushed to begin with, but within 2 weeks it was dried up.
After the first dried up, I did some research to make sure I was caring for it properly.
I've never had plants that I could not keep alive..let alone for 2 weeks.
If you get one...good luck!!!

Forget Me Knot Madagascar Palm-Easy to Grow House Plant Review

(More customer reviews)I like the plant but when I recevied it was dead looking and im having a hard time trying to get it looking healthy. It doesn't look close to the picture that is on amzoon. It's condition is sick looking. The leaves are not up right, yellow and its cleary not as green as the picture. I hope I can get it back to life or it would have been a wast of money. I know now I will never buy plants online again.

(More customer reviews)I was told the fragrance from this vine is fantastic but two years after receiving a well packed, healthy plant, I have lots of vine, no bloom. I see progress this summer and will write back if something happens but it looks a lot like regular old vinca vines so far.
I have been told its worth the wait for the blossoms.
Hirt's has always sent really nice plants, I highly recommend them.

Japanese Sago Palm - GREAT GIFT EASY TO GROW - 4" pot Review

(More customer reviews)I was very impressed with the lengths Hirt's went to to ensure that my cycad arrived safely. The plant was well padded, the pot was taped to prevent dirt from falling out, and a heating pad was included to prevent the plant from getting too cold on the journey.
As for the plant itself, it arrived in excellent condition, with no signs of damage. The caudex is about 4 inches high above the soil, and the leaves extend a further 8-9 inches, for a total height of about a foot (excluding the pot).
Regarding cycads in general:
It has been noted in reviews on similar products that cycads are toxic and potentially harmful to pets or children. This is true, but then again, it is also true of many common houseplants, including caladium (elephant ear), chinese evergreen, and schefflera (umbrella tree). Take care to research potential hazards when selecting houseplants.
If, however, you decided that a cycad is right for you, then you'll be pleased with one from Hirt's.

After months of spraying with insecticidal soap and even pesticides I couldn't get rid of the mealy bug infestation that the plant arrived with. The final straw was the bugs spreading to a healthy neighboring plant. Really hoping the infestation won't spread further and I recommend that any buying this particular plant will check it thoroughly before getting it near anything else.

(More customer reviews)I was very pleased with the plant I received. Its a lot smaller than the picture but appropriate for the price paid. I didn't want to spend $80 - $100 for a patio lemon tree so I don't mind getting a little starter tree for a fraction of that cost. I can enjoy watching it grow. Someday, it will enjoy a gallon sized pot but right now, it's a little less than a cup of soil.
I've ordered live plants online before but usually they need a little love to get over being boxed for days. This little plant was so well wrapped, there wasn't a bent leaf and the soil was still moist!
Their web page is very informative. The plant information page is called a 'culture sheet'. I think that's a term that's so common to horticulturists, they wouldn't realize some folks don't know what that is. I admit I didn't know until now.
