12 Apostles Plant - Neomarica - Rare Houseplant Review

12 Apostles Plant - Neomarica - Rare Houseplant

The plant was packaged with care in it's pint-sized pot and shipped quickly to my front door. It looks healthy and green and I watered it immediately upon reception. I purchased it to gift to an experienced gardener who appreciates unusual blooms and I think it will be very well received. I can't wait to see it reach maturity and bloom those gorgeous violet-blue flowers.

Madagascar Jasmine Plant - Stephanotis - Bridal Wreath Review

Madagascar Jasmine Plant - Stephanotis - Bridal Wreath

I just received my Stephanotis plant from Hirt's Gardens. I was thrilled with the condition of the plant. The size was larger than I thought it would be. The greenery was all healthy and the plant was in full bloom. The plant also arrived just days after ordering. I thought the price was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend Hirt's Garden for plants after this experience.

Jasmine 'Tricolor Star' Asiatic Plant -Trachelosperumum Review

Jasmine 'Tricolor Star' Asiatic Plant -Trachelosperumum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
From the discription I read I thought the plant would a bit bigger. The plant is just barely past being a seedling, the discription said it would be a well established plant in a 3" pot. Well, yes, it was in a pot & it does have leaves & a root system but it is maybe a 1/4 tall. I don't think that is the "norm.", at least I hope not, not for $9.99... hind sight being 20/20 I should have looked more on the web & gotten the 1 gallon potted plant from another seller for the same price.
Pros: Plant was shipped very nicely with lots of the styrfoam peanuts.
Cons: Much smaller than expected, picture are deceiving, you are definitely not receiving a mature plant. (Nice to know what the plant might look like in a year or two.)

Jasmine Asiatic 'Star' Plant -Trachelosperumum - FRAGRANT Review

Jasmine Asiatic 'Star' Plant -Trachelosperumum - FRAGRANT

I was told the fragrance from this vine is fantastic but two years after receiving a well packed, healthy plant, I have lots of vine, no bloom. I see progress this summer and will write back if something happens but it looks a lot like regular old vinca vines so far.
I have been told its worth the wait for the blossoms.
Hirt's has always sent really nice plants, I highly recommend them.

Japanese Sago Palm - GREAT GIFT EASY TO GROW - 4" pot Review

Japanese Sago Palm - GREAT GIFT EASY TO GROW - 4 pot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was very impressed with the lengths Hirt's went to to ensure that my cycad arrived safely. The plant was well padded, the pot was taped to prevent dirt from falling out, and a heating pad was included to prevent the plant from getting too cold on the journey.
As for the plant itself, it arrived in excellent condition, with no signs of damage. The caudex is about 4 inches high above the soil, and the leaves extend a further 8-9 inches, for a total height of about a foot (excluding the pot).
Regarding cycads in general:
It has been noted in reviews on similar products that cycads are toxic and potentially harmful to pets or children. This is true, but then again, it is also true of many common houseplants, including caladium (elephant ear), chinese evergreen, and schefflera (umbrella tree). Take care to research potential hazards when selecting houseplants.
If, however, you decided that a cycad is right for you, then you'll be pleased with one from Hirt's.

My plant arrived well-packaged and promptly. It was quite healthy looking and doubled in size within a week. I've even gotten a little flower bud on top already, but it has yet to bloom. Overall, I'm very pleased with it.

Variegated Hindu Rope Plant - Hoya - 4 Inch Pot Review

Variegated Hindu Rope Plant - Hoya - 4 Inch Pot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This pot contained two plants, not the three specified in the listing. They were not potbound, as the listing claims they prefer, seemed to have been potted very recently (no intertwining of roots), and when I took them out to examine a lively worm disappeared into the rest of the non-soil potting mix. The two plants seem healthy enough, so I'll tend them and see what happens.

Jasmine Maid of Orleans Plant Review

Jasmine Maid of Orleans Plant
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this plant from Hirt s and was pleased with the size and health, but disappointed that it had neither flowers nor buds right away.
After waiting a while with no results, I moved it to sit under a plant light, and gave it African Violet food. Voila! Tiny green buds appeared after about two weeks, and they -slowly- got larger and turned white.
Two weeks ago, the first bud opened to reveal a small, pristine white, delicate flower. The fragrance was heavenly! Everyone in the family stopped to inhale deeply every time we went past the pot.
When the blossom fell off the following day, I floated it in water, and it continued to provide fragrance for several days.
Other buds are swelling, and a total of five have opened including the first one. Each flower stays on the plant for about 24 hours, some a little more, some a little less. Yesterday, I had two OPEN at once. They fell off this morning, but another one opened.
Best of all, as the current crop of buds swell and open, I see new tiny green buds starting from branches that used to be bare.
The plant is easy to care for (don't drown it, don't let it dry out; give it good light; feed it lightly and infrequently with something like African Violet fertilizer), and is beautiful just for its leaves and overall shape. The flowers, when they come, are heavenly.
I've ordered several other plants from Hirt's, and all of them have arrived in excellent condition. This is the first one that I've gotten to bloom.
