Although it doesn't have a digital ballast, the ballast does not get very hot and the HPS bulb barely increases the room temperature (the MH is quite a bit warmer). My plants love it so much that I can literally see their new growth each day, and I even had seeds put up their first leaves under it in only 2 days!
The light system arrived only 3 days after ordering, discretely as promised and although I had a few difficulties customer service was extremely helpful and the replacement part I needed arrived only 2 days later. The ballast and cool tube reflector both appear to be very well made and I expect they will both last through many years of use. I also believe their claim that their HPS puts out more light, as it does seem quite a bit brighter than my friend's system.
It is SO nice to finally find an honest and reliable online merchant who you can trust and I highly recommend both this product and this vendor.
